Position Summary:

The Patient Safety Project Manager utilizes clinical knowledge and experience to assist in the implementation of the Patient Safety Program. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and project management skills.

Essential Functions:

The Patient Safety Project Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

* Performs the investigation, review, analysis and disposition of patient safety events though the event review structure. Patient records may be reviewed for patient safety improvement projects, which may include but not be limited to audits, quality initiatives, performance improvement, and work group initiatives.

* Facilitates cause analysis of actual or near miss events throughout the organization

* Facilitates projects/project teams designed to improve patient safety

* Aggregates and analyzes data for preparation of regular reports; identifies opportunities to improve patient safety; identifies trends and patterns related to near miss and actual events.

* Participates and contributes to development of patient safety program activities (ie patient safety rounds, recognition and reward programs, safety campaigns, unit-based patient safety programs).

* Provides professional assistance for identification, development and implementation of initiatives that promote safety and quality across the institution.

* Develops and provides education to caregivers, providers, leaders, and other key stakeholders to support the culture of safety

* Proficient in various software systems such as, Excel, Power Point, Word, EPIC, Visio; able to design and develop necessary patient safety reports

Reports to the Director of Patient Safety and Accreditation

Required Physical Demands (Subject to Reasonable Accommodation):

Keyboarding/Dexterity: Frequently; activity exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time
Standing/Walking: Occasionally; activity exists up to 1/3 of the time
Strength (Lift/Carry/Push/Pull): Light (Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, or up to 10 pounds of force frequently)
Talking (Must be able to effectively communicate verbally): Yes

Environmental Conditions:

This position is subject to being called upon, at any time, for response to disaster calls at any facility within the INTEGRIS Health, which may or may not include potential exposures to chemical, biological, and/or radiological agents.

Qualifications:


* Bachelors Degree: Nursing or Healthcare related field is required

* Masters level degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or Clinical Specialty preferred

* 5 years clinical experience required

* Experience in patient safety, risk management, quality improvement, in a healthcare setting strongly preferred

* Previous leadership experience preferred

* Working knowledge of quality improvement processes and data analysis preferred

* Must be able to communicate effectively in English (Verbal/Written)
