Reporting to the Associate Chief Nursing Officer,  the Nurse Manager has 24-hour accountability and responsibility for managing the nursing unit to provide safe, efficient and quality patient centered care.  The Nurse Manager directs and coordinates all activities of the patient care unit including:

          * plans, implements, and evaluates unit programs to meet specific patient care needs,
          * selects and supervises unit staff,
          * plans and manages the unit budget, and
          * provides leadership to promote professional practice.

          The Nurse Manager represents the unit staff and provides leadership in the Division of Nursing and the Medical Center as a whole through participation in the decision-making process, support, and development of policies and programs.

Major responsibilities include patient care management; quality assessment and improvement; safety; personnel management; team building & communications; financial management; leadership; and professional development.

Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Washington required.

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.

Several years progressively responsible professional nursing experience required including acute care or critical care.

Requires at least one year in a supervisory position such as Assistant Nurse Manager or Nurse Manager (or higher level management role).


National nursing specialty certification desirable.

MSN degree desirable.
